Hyundai has announced an update for the i30 for 2010, including new models, lower emissions and more equipment.
Hyundai’s cars get more competent and more appealing with every passing launch. We’ll soon see the Hyundai ix35 launched in the UK, followed soon after by the Hyundai i40 /Sonata. But Hyundai isn’t ignoring its existing models, and has just announced updates to the i30 for 2010.
A new entry-level model gets added – the i30 Classic – with either a 1.4 petrol or 1.6 diesel. For an entry-level model they get a half decent spec, including ESP, AirCon and front electric windows. Starting point on price is £12,000 for the 1.4 and £12,950 for the diesel, which makes the new Hyundai i30 Classic diesel £1,130 cheaper than the previously cheapest diesel i30. Hard to argue with.
Next up in the range comes the i30 Comfort which adds 16″ alloys, electric windows all round, leather wheel and gear knob and radio controls on the steering wheel for an extra £700. Top of the range premium comes in at £1,200 less than before, although you now only get half leather instead of full leather.
Hyundai has also introduced stop-start as an option across the range (with a manual ‘box) for an extra £200, so if you spend a lot of time driving in town it’s worth the cost. The addition of stop-start reduces emissions by 10% on the saloon and 14% on the estate, yielding some useful savings on BIK costs.
The updated Hyundai 130 goes on sale in January 2010, but you can place orders now.
