Jaguar and Land Rover are now in the Heritage Merchandise business
Jaguar and Land Rover – already pushing brand-related merchandise – has now launched a range of Heritage merchandising to cash in on their history.
Car makers’ core business may be the flogging of new cars, but that doesn’t stop them looking for other revenue streams, one of which – particularly for car brands with a rich history and loyal following – is product merchandising.Form clothing ranges to key fobs, model cars to sportswear and aftershave to watches, anything that can take a logo and be sold at a premium price is on offer from car makers like Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes – and Jaguar Land Rover.
Jaguar and Land Rover already have a range of stuff on offer, and now they’re looking to earn an extra few bob with a new range of ‘Heritage’ merchandise, using iconic cars and moments from their history to inspire new offerings.
The Jaguar Heritage range takes its inspiration from the 1957 Jaguar XKSS, and the offerings include hand-made leather jackets, driving gloves, wallets, T-shirts and polo shorts, and even a 1:8 scale model Jaguar XKSS, in addition to the wide range of Jaguar-related stuff already on offer.
The Land Rover Heritage range has been inspired by the 60th anniversary of the First Overland crossing from London to Singapore – which was run in a pair of Series I Land Rovers (now the Defender) – by six students from Oxford and Cambridge.
The heritage collection of goodies – in light blue and dark blue to signify the Cambridge and Oxford colours – includes a vintage leather jacket, an expedition jacket, T-Shirts and Polo shirts, a watch with vintage strap and small and large Globetrotter trunks (that’s trunks for packing stuff, not trunks for swimming in) complete with a route-map graphic and set of replica stickers.
So if you’re a Land Rover or Jaguar fan – and would like to shout it to the world – you know what to do.
