Jaguar F-Pace SVR caught on video as Jaguar’s most powerful F-Pace hits the Nurburgring

Jaguar is busy developing a new halo model for the F-Pace SUV – the Jaguar F-Pace SVR – which has been caught on video testing at the Nurburging ahead of a 2018 launch.

The Jaguar F-Pace – Jaguar’s first SUV – has fast become Jaguar’s best-selling car by far – and is 2017 World Car of the Year – as Jaguar take a leaf out of Land Rover’s book to deliver a high-riding car which panders to the current obsession with SUVs.

But every sporty car – and the Jaguar F-Pace is a sporty SUV, rather than an off-road warrior – needs a proper halo model, so Jaguar are busy working to deliver exactly that.

Heading in to battle with cars like the Porsche Macan Turbo is the Jaguar F-Pace SVR, an F-Pace with the heart of an F-Type SVR. And it’s been caught on video thundering round the Nurburgring as Jaguar work towards a 2018 launch.

That means a 5.0 litre supercharged engine under the bonnet delivering up to 576bhp to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, delivering performance likely to be around 4.0 seconds to 62mph.

Despite the usual swirly black and white camouflage on the SVR, it’s clear it will get a more aggressive look than the regular F-Pace, complete with huge air intakes at the front and big alloys.

It also seems likely that when it does arrive next year, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is going to cost at least £75k. Sales will probably not be huge, but the SVR will cast a golden performance glow on the rest of the F-Pace range.

Which is exactly the point.
