Jaguar Land Rover has revealed the cars they have built for the latest James Bond SPECTRE film on the eve of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The star car for the new James Bond SPECTRE film is undoubtedly the Aston Martin DB10, but Jaguar and Land Rover have a piece of the Bond franchise action too, and have taken the opportunity to show what they delivered for Bond on the eve of the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Jaguar C-X75 supercar is undoubtedly the headline, especially as SPECTRE looks like the only place you’re ever likely to see it in action.
Planned to be Jaguar’s 21st century supercar, the C-X75 was canned as JLR looked to their main market and realised their money would be better spent on volume production cars – like the new Jaguar F-Pace – than creating a £1 million hybrid supercar.
So the C-X75 becomes the baddies car in Bond, probably equipped with Jaguar’s supercharged V8 rather than the hybrid gubbins JLR planned. And it does make you wish JLR had been a bit bolder and taken the C-X75 to market.
Also on show is the Range Rover Sport SVR – a car you can but from Land Rover – as well as the Land Rover Defender Big Foot – complete with 37″ wheels – we’ve seen in previous Bond outings.
JLR roped in Miss Moneypenny (actress Naomie Harris) and Mr Hinx (the second string baddie in Spectre, played by David Bautista) to drape themselves across the C-X75, RR Sport and Defender to make the link clear.
Just a shame they couldn’t stretch to Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux and Monica Bellucci.
