The new Jaguar SUV (Crossover) is due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the C-X17 Concept. But it’s arrived a bit earlier than Jaguar planned.
Jaguar Land Rover don’t have a lot of luck keeping their concept cars under wraps ahead of their official debut. And so it is with the Jaguar SUV/Crossover.
But the Interwebs being what they are, the first photo of the C-X17 has already leaked out in to the wild to give us a taste of what is to come.
And what’s to come is pretty much as expected, with an exaggerated take on Jaguar’s saloons at the front and, judging from the teaser photo Jaguar released of the C-X17 earlier, it would seem their will be an SUV-like take on the rear lights of trhe F-Type going on behind.
When the Jaguar Crossover does hit Jaguar showrooms – which probably won’t be before 2015 – we can expect to see a range of engined from V6 diesels to the new 4-cylinder engines JLR are currently working on and no doubt a hybrid too.
The general consensus is that the Jaguar Crossover will come with the Jaguar XQ moniker, which neatly combines the suffix from two cars it will have ion its firing line – the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
We’ll see more than just the butch front end of the Jaguar XQ Concept in the next few days.

If this is a genuine Jaguar release, then I can’t help feeling a little underwhelmed. The front view is VERY derivative of the XF and XJ, and given the striking look of the F-Type I was hoping for something a little more daring; particularly as a concept.
Still, one angle doesn’t tell us much, perhaps it’s more adventurous in the flesh? Find out next week!

Either Jaguar is deliberately releasing pictures of new models ahead of time or, they have an inept marketing department. Remember, the New York tint shop which released pictures of the new Range Rover Sport ahead of its New York debut?
If the answer is the latter, then there needs to be a couple of P45s heading to JLR’s marketing group.

Just as we said. This could be a deliberate JLR leak to get extra coverage, but the RRS was certainly a cock up!
