Lamborghini Siån
The Lamborghini Siån arrives a limited run Lamborghini Supercar sporting a v12 with electrical aid from a supercapacitor, creating Lamborghini’s first hybrid.
Every other car makers on the planet may be busy cutting engine capacity and cylinders and adding electrical assistance, but Lamborghini want to hold on to their glorious V12 for as long as possible. So the arrival of a new limited run Lamborghini Supercar – the Lamborghini Siån – doesn’t see a six-pot under the covers with a thumping great electric motor, but the 6.5 litre V12 engine from the Aventador boosted to 774bhp and a Supercapacitor adding another 33bhp.
Supercapicitors are three times more powerful than a battery of the same size and can deliver and store energy far more quickly, and here they power the electric motor in the gearbox which means the motor can power the wheels directly at low speeds.
It all adds up to 807bhp on tap for the Siån to power all four wheels, and that translates in to a 0-62mph of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 217mph.
It looks the part too – proper bedroom wall poster stuff – with its plethora of angles and wide wedge shape and influences from the Terzo Millenio concept and , if you look hard, nods to the Countach too. Oh, and it’s green with gold bits. Very green.
Lamborghini are building 63 Siåns, and they’re all sold. At some multi-million pound price normal mortals can’t even contemplate with even a lottery win.
