Lamborghini Urus SUV UNLEASHES its 650bhp twin-turbo V8 round the Nurburgring
The Lamborghini Urus SUV is getting close to a production model reveal, and Lamborghini are busy testing its 650bhp V8 round the Nurburgring in this spy video.
The Lamborghini Urus SUV has been a long time coming, with the concept of Lamborghini’s second ever SUV in concept guise revealed as long ago as 2012.But we’re expecting it to arrive later this year – probably at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show – so it’s inevitable Lamborghini will be letting the Urus out in public as final shakedown goes on ahead of its debut.
Clearly, as the Urus is a Lamborghini, it’s going to have to be a bit more than a soft-roading SUV, so Lambo has joined the throng at the Nurburgring to blat the Urus around and shake out its shortcomings.
This spy video shows the Urus in action, and from what we can see, despite the disguise, it’s a Urus which looks very like the original concept, despite half a decade passing since we first saw it.
That means a gaping front end, a raised ride height, pretty extreme coupe roof line and a bluff back end with quad tail pipes.
Under the bonnet, as we now know, is the VW Group’s 4.0 litre BiTurbo V8 complete with 650 of Sant’Agata’s finest horses, which should make the Urus one of the most appealing performance SUVs yet.
Whether that will make it VW’s fastest SUV remains to be seen, because the Bentayga is no slouch, and the Cayenne is due to get the Turbo S E-Hybrid powerplant from the Panamera.
Still, the Urus’s V8 sounds pretty good to us.
