Lexus LS+ Concept REVEALED at the Tokyo Motor Show
The Lexus LS+ Concept has been revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show, previewing future autonomous and AI technology for Lexus’s new flagship.
The latest iteration of the flagship Lexus LS arrived at the start of this year in Detroit as Lexus showcased its challenge to the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series. So, with a new LS just about going on sale, why is the Lexus LS+ Concept on the floor at the Tokyo Motor Show?
The simple answer is that Lexus want to showcase how much cleverer the LS is going to get in the next few years, with new autonomous technology on the way and AI too.
Of course, as the LS+ is a concept, Lexus has blinged it up a bit, with a massive new grille at the front – complete with shutters behind to control airflow – big alloys and a new light treatment at the back and laser headlights.
But it’s the clever stuff under the skin that the Lexus LS+ is all about.
In future, ‘Highway Teammate’ will know when the LS is joining a motorway and will offer the driver a raft of technologies to make the drive safer and easier, including automatic lane keeping, merging and overtaking as well as controlling brakes and throttle to keep safe.
The LS will also use information from other cars to flag up issues on the motorway, and there’s AI learning through over the air updates what the road is like. And the LS will ‘learn’ that for the future.
Also on offer will be Tesla-like live updates over the air, so the LS is always up to date with its technology, and all without a visit to the Lexus dealer.
