The McLaren F1 belonging to “Flemke” had a coming-together on a German Autobahn last year. But now it’s fixed and looks terrific in this video.
Perhaps the best-know McLaren F1 in the UK – well, perhaps the best known apart from Rowan Atkinson’s recently bent F1 – is the F1 owned by regular online commenter ‘Flemke’.
Flemke is, as you would expect, worth a few bob and lives in the UK. But unlike the vast majority of McLaren F1 owners he loves to share the joy of his Mac with online enthusiasts.
Perhaps the only other F1 owner who has shared so much about the F1 with the wider world is American Frank Selldorff, who has owned a total of three McLaren F1s including a McLaren LM now owned by Ralph Lauren and cars #007 and #068.
Both Frank and Flemke actually drive their F1s on a daily basis (well, Frank no more as he’s currently without an F1) which means, just as happened recently to Rowan Atkinson, there’s the possibility of a coming together when out playing. And that’s exactly what happened to Flemke last year on a German Autobahn.
The damage was repairable, and McLaren has been busy putting Flemke’s F1 back in to better than new condition ever since. It’s got a new paint job, new wheels and a re-trimmed interior. And it looks spectacular.
We don’t often get the chance to see a McLaren F1 – and one looking so factory fresh at that – up close and personal. So this video of Flemeke’s beautiful McLaren F1 out playing in the Surrey countryside is a bit of a treat.
Enjoy.
