Mercedes Maybach Concept teased for Pebble Beach
A Mercedes-Maybach Concept is being teased ahead of a reveal st Pebble Beach later this month. Could it be a convertible take on the Maybach 6 Concept?
Maybach as a standalone brand may be dead and buried, but that isn’t stopping Mercedes using the name on luxury variants of its models. Not only that, but we’re seeing Maybach Concepts turn up too – which must raise the likelihood of real production Maybachs – like the Vision Mercedes Maybach 6 Concept which turned up at Pebble Beach last year.
But with Pebble now looming, Mercedes are back with another tease for a new Maybach Concept, which we assume will be a convertible take on last year’s Maybach 6.
The video from Mercedes only shows detail highlights, but it does look like it’s a slightly more production looking take on last year’s concept, but without a roof.
If it is, then this Maybach should get the same 738bhp electric powertrain, using a motor on each wheel to deliver a 0-62mph sub-4 seconds and a range of 300 miles.
Even if the Maybach Convertible isn’t heading for production as a range-topping model to take on Rolls Royce again, it surely showcases the sort of electric powertrain Mercedes see heading the S-Class’ way some time soon.
No doubt, as Pebble Beach gets closer, we’ll learn more.
