Mitsubishi ASX gets a bit of a facelift
The Mitusbishi ASX – Mitsubishi’s venerable compact SUV – gets a bit of a facelift for 2019 which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Last year, when the Mitsubishi ASX was reduced to a single model in the UK, we did think it sounded the end of the road for the underrated ASX, with Mitsubishi’s plans to bin the ASX looking to be well underway. But, despite the ASX now being almost a decade old, it seems there’s life in Mitsubishi’s answer to cars like the Nissan Qashqai with a refreshed and facelifted ASX heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Mitsubishi has given the ASX its ‘Dynamic Shield’ look to fit in with the Outlander and Eclipse Cross looks, with a new front bumper, a new grille, a deeper bonnet, skid plates front and back, LED headlights and tail lights and a bit of a tidy up at the back.
Inside, the headline change is an update to the infotainment, with a larger 8″ screen delivering TomTom Nav with real traffic alerts, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, new App, and extra safety stuff like forward collision braking and blind spot warning.
Having reduced the ASX to a single 1.6 litre petrol engine option last year, Mitsubishi are now giving the ASX a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with five-speed manual or CVT auto, which looks to have been borrowed from the Outlander, and a choice of FWD or 4WD.
Expect prices for the new Mitsubishi ASX to be revealed when it debuts in Geneva.
