New (2014) Mazda3 now on sale: Price from £16,695

The new Mazda 3 – revealed in the summer – is now on sale as a hatchback of Fastback from £16,695, rising to £23,345 for the 2.2-litre 150ps Sport Nav Auto Hatch.

The new Mazda3 arrived in the summer, but only now has Mazda got round to revealing prices as the new 3 goes on sale in the UK as a Hatchback or Fastback.

The new Mazda3 has grwon in size, gets better looking, offers Mazda’s SKYACTIV-G and SKYACTIV-D engines and looks set to offer even more competition for the VW Golf and Ford Focus.

Mazda has managed to stretch the Mazda3 range to a total of 36 models – 21 hatchbacks and 15 Fastbacks – with a choice of three petrol engines – the new 1.5-litre with 110PS and two versions of the 2.0 litre with 120PS or 165PS – and the 2.2 litre 150PS SKYACTIV-D diesel.

Economy and emissions offer a strong incentive to buy, with the 2.2 litre diesel offering 72.4mpg and 104g/km and the 120PS petrol 55.4mpg and 119g/km.

Standard equipment looks decent with all Mazda3s getting Smart City Brake Support (which brakes trhe car if you’re going to hit something), i-stop, idle-stop, Hill Hold, 16″ alloys, AirCon, power folding mirrors, 7″ colour touchscreen and Bluetooth. There’s also Mazda’s new mobile connectivity system which adds in internet radio, web-based Infotainment and social media through a cloud based system.

There’s a choice of five spec levels – SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav – and there’s a choice of nine exterior colours including Soul Red and two new launch colours – Titanium Flash Mica and Deep Crystal Blue Mica.

The 2014 Mazda3 is now on sale in the UK.
