New Lotus Exige Sport 380
The new Lotus Exige 380 has been revealed as an Exige 350 with an extra 30bhp, 25kg less weight and a price tag starting at £67,900.
It would be nice to see Lotus turn up with something properly new, but at least there is a roll out of improved models, like this, the new Lotus Exige Sport 380.You wouldn’t need to be a Lotus anorak to realise that this is last year’s Exige Sport 350 but with an extra 30 metric horses – 380PS / 375bhp – for a bit more get up and go.
In fact, the get up and go is proper supercar-bashing levels, with the Exige getting to 60mph in just 3.5 seconds on its way to 178mph.
It’s not just the extra power that makes the Lotus so quick, but some weight cutting and aerodynamic tweaks too.
Weight savings on stuff like plastic back window, battery, carbon seats and alloys – and even a smaller light cluster at the back – add up to 25kg of weight saving, with the 380 weighing in at just 1066kg.
Astonishingly, Lotus say downforce on the Exige 380 is 60% more than on the 350 thanks to revised panels and bumpers improving airflow over the car.
You’ll be able to spec your Exige 380 in a choice of ten colours, the interior in Tartan Cloth, Alcantara or leather, as a Roadster or Coupe and with prices from £67,900.
