The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is a more grown-up take on Mazda’s very successful compact-ish SUV goes on sale in the UK on 30 June from £23,695.
Mazda make some cracking cars, but they sometimes seem a bit lost in the marketplace, competing against mainstream rivals like Toyota, Ford and VW.But the new Mazda CX-5 looks to be the match of anything the competition delivers, and now it’s about to go on sale in the UK, with prices starting at £23,695 and rising to 33,195.
This new CX-5 – building on global sales of more than 1.5 million for the last generation – gets new, more dynamic styling with a more ‘Premium’ look thanks to a refined nose and less plastic bits bolted on.
Mazda has also refined the suspension and steering, and added their G-Vectoring Control to improve dynamics.
The model range only comes in two trim options, with engine options of the 2.0-litre 165ps SKYACTIV-G petrol engine in SE-L Nav and Sport Nav trim with FWD and six-speed manual, with Mazda reckoning the best-seller will be the 2.2-litre 150ps SKYACTIV-D diesel which can be had as a manual or auto and with Mazda’s 4WD as an option.

The new Mazda CX-5 gets a more premium interior too
Also available is the 2.2-litre 175ps SKYACTIV-D, only available in Sport Nav trim and with Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD and a manual or auto option.
Spec levels look good too, with even the entry-level CX-5s getting LEd headlights, power folding mirrors, Climate, DAB, 7″ Infotainment and Nav.
Opt for the Sport Nav and you’ll add in reversing camera, electric driver seat, Keyless, heated front seats and steering wheel, powered tailgate and HUD with traffic sign recognition.
Jeremy Thomson, Mazda UK’s MD, said:
…the all-new Mazda CX-5 takes this to the next stage, elevating exterior design, cabin quality and refinement to new levels of sophistication, whilst at the same time ensuring Mazda’s love of driving is even more apparent in the handling.
With it arriving in UK dealerships this month I’m sure the all-new Mazda CX-5 will carry on winning over British SUV buyers, especially as increased equipment levels and superb residual values mean it continues to represent great value for retail and fleet customers alike.
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 goes on sale in the UK on 30 June at Mazda’s dealers, with the Mazda CX-5 2.0 165ps 2WD SE-L Nav kicking off the range at £23,695 and topping out at £33,195 for the CX-5 2.2 175ps AWD Sport Nav Auto.
