The new Mazda MX-5 – revealed last year – will cost from £18,495 for the 1.5-litre SKYACTIV petrol rising to £23,295 for the 2.0i Sport. On sale now.
The latest evolution of the Mazda MX-5 – and it is still very much an evolution, with the same light, simple and frugal ethos it’s always had – came in to view last year and now, with production of the new MX-5 under way – Mazda has revealed UK prices and specs. The headline grabbing price of £18,495 buys you the 1.5 litre SCYACTIV petrol-engine with SE spec, just one of five trim levels Mazda has decided to confuse buyers with, and you’ll be paying more for any of the other trim levels, or the 159bhp 2.0 litre engine.
The entry-level SE models come with alloys, LED headlights, leather steering wheel and fabric roof (and only the 1.5 litre engine as an option), with the SE-L model (from £19,245) adding LED running lights, Climate, DAB, Bluetooth, Cruise Control and the MZD-Connect Infotainment with 7″ screen. You also get 17″ Gunmetal alloys, black door mirrors, strut tower bar and limited slip diff if you opt for the 2.0 litre engine (from £20,095).
Sport trim (from £21,845) throws in auto wipers, rear parking sensors, keyless, Bose and heated leather seats, with 1.5 litre versions getting 16″ Gunmetal alloys and black door mirrors, and the 2.0 litre (from £22,695) getting Sports suspension with Bilstein dampers, limited slip diff, strut tower bar and 17″ bright alloys and body-coloured mirrors.
The additional models are ‘Nav’ versions of the SE-L (from £19,845) and Sport (from £22,445) which come with Mazda’s Sat Nav and three years of free map updates, with the range-topping 2.0 litre Sport Nav model also getting the £350 Safety Pack option which adds High Beam Control, Blind Sport Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The new MX-5 is now available to pre-order (and there’ll be a configurator going live n Mazda’s website on Monday) with all pre-orders qualifying for a draw to win a drive of the new MX-5 at Goodwood at the end of June.
What more incentive could you want to jump in early.
