New Volkswagen Touareg R-Line Plus adds extra gloss to VW’s big SUV – costs from £48,095

The Volksagen Touareg R-Line Plus arrives in the UK as a new range-topping Touareg with cosmetic and equipment additions. Cost from £48,090.

The VW Touareg SUV had a bit of a facelift a couple of years ago and now, as the Touareg is getting towards the end of its shelf life, VW has decided to add extra gloss by launching a new range-topper in the UK – the Touareg R-Line Plus.

Adding to the already well-=equipped R-Line trim, the R-Line Plus gets 21″ alloys and VW’s Area View which uses a number of cameras to provide a bird’s-eye view of the car for easier and safer parking, with the cameras, to a degree. able to ‘see’ round corners.

Inside, VW has given the R-Line plus Piano Black trim and Vienna leather with electric front seats with electric headrest adjustment.

To be frank, it’s not a huge amount of extra stuff on top of the regular R-Line, but VW do say it would cost you £3,255 to spec up a regular R-Line with the same stuff, and they only want an extra £1,160. So if the extra float your boat the R-Line Plus makes sense.

The R-Line Plus spec is available on either of the two engine options in the Touareg – the 3.0 litre TDI with 201bhp or 258bhp – with the lower powered model costing from £48,095 and the higher powered from £49,995.

The new VW Touareg R-Line Plus is now on sale at VW’s UK dealers, and VW expect around half of Touareg sales will be the new range-topping trim.
