Nissan Gripz Crossover Concept looks like the future of ‘Z’
A new teaser image (and video) has been released for their Frankfurt Crossover Concept, which is the Nissan Gripz and looks to be a future ‘Z’ car.
Earlier this week we had a Nissan Crossover tease for Frankfurt, but Nissan were less than forthcoming about exactly what it was.But it looks like our speculation that the tease could be for a future crossover ‘Z’ car look like they are close, especially as Nissan had dubbed this the GripZ Concept.
Sticking a ‘z’ on the end of ‘Grip’ is the first clue, but Nissan also admit that the inspiration for the Gripz comes from the 240Z desert racer – a higher-riding 240Z to tackle rough terrain – as well as from road cycling.
It certainly looks like Nissan are intent on building on their success with mainstream crossovers like the Qashqai and Juke by turning their Z cars in to a high-riding crossover with the commanding driving position car buyers love, but with the performance and handling of a sports car.
Nissan are planning to reveal the Gripz in Frankfurt next Tuesday (15 September) so, if we don’t get a leak or two before, we should then know what sort of direction Nissan are heading.
It could be interesting.
