The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary special edition has been revealed with more power and cosmetic upgrades. Debuts at Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It’s getting on for two years since the new Peugeot 208 GTi arrived, but it’s 30 years since the 205 GTi arrived and that calls for a bit of celebration. So we get the Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary special edition, which debuts this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The 208 GTi 30th gets a new version of the 1.6 litre THP petrol engine that comes with 205 bhp and 221lb/ft of torque, a small increase on the output of the regular 208 GTi.
That 205bhp all goes to the front wheels through a six-speed manual ‘box with a limited slip diff, modified suspension and steering conspiring to offer better grip and dynamics. That means performance of 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.
Bright chrome trim gets replaced by matt black, a look that extends to the grill surround, fog light bezels and door mirrors, with matt black side skirts and wheel arch extensions covering the 18″ matt black alloys.
The 208 GTi 30th Anniversary also gets a two-tone paint job – Peugeot’s special edition ‘Go-to’ paint job at the moment – with the front end finished in textured black and the back end in lacquered red, but you can also have Pearl White and Ruby Red.
Inside. the 208 GTi 30th gets lacquered black trim, black door handles with a red line (echoed in the seat belts) and Peugeot Sport bucket seats in Alcantara with red stitching.
The Peugeot 208 GTi 30th Anniversary special edition will make its public debut this weekend at Goodwood
