Range Rover SV Coupe scrapped
The Range Rover SV Coupe – an exclusive Limited Edition Range Rover Coupe – is scrapped as Jaguar Land Rover hunker down.
Last year’s Geneva Motor Show saw the debut of the Range Rover SV Coupe, a massively expensive (starting price £240,000) Range Rover from JLR’s SVO aimed at newcomers like the Bentley Bentayga.JLR planned a run of 999 of the first two door Range Rover in a very long time, complete with every toy Land Rover could throw in – and then some – with a new body created almost entirely from scratch by SVO and the most powerful V8 engine in Land Rover’s stable.
But since the Range Rover Coupe was revealed things have gone a bit Pete Tong for JLR, with dropping sales – especially in China – job cuts, Brexit confusion, diesel woes, tariff troubles and more, and JLR are on a cost-cutting exercise to try and turn things around.
So despite orders for the ‘Ultimate’ Range Rover, JLR has decided it’s not going to build it after all and will instead concentrate its efforts on more mainstream models.
A statement from JLR said:
We have taken the difficult decision to inform our customers that the Range Rover SV Coupe will not proceed into production. Instead, Land Rover is focusing its resources and investment on the next generation of world-class products.
With exciting plans for electrification, enhanced craftsmanship, innovation and technology we are working to ensure that we continue to offer our customers a choice of world leading SUVs.
