The SangYong Tivoli XLV has arrived in the UK after a Geneva Motor Show debut in March as an extended version of the Tivoli Compact SUV.
Ssangyong has enjoyed some success with its Tivoli compact SUV as Mahindra seek to make SsangYong a viable sales force, and now we’re getting an ‘extended body’ take on the Tivoli – the new SsangYong Tivoli XLV.First seen at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the Tivoli XLV is a regular Tivoli with an extra lump behind the back pillars to offer more carrying space. It sounds a bit odd, but perhaps the best way to think of it is as a Tivoli Estate.
That extra bit on the back pushes the Tivoli’s length up by 238mm (over nine inches in old money), endowing the Tivoli XLV with an impressive 720 litre of room for stuff behind the back seats.
SssangYong say that makes the XLV ideal for lugging around stuff like baby buggies, golf clubs and bikes, and if you need to move stuff like that, and want a cheap as chips compact SUV, the Tivoli XLV could suit.
Power comes from a Euro6 1.6 litre diesel delivering 113bhp and 117g/km, with either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto gearbox, and the option of 2WD or 4WD too.
Ssangyong reckon the arrival of the Tivoli XLV will push global Tivoli sales up over the 100,000 a year mark, 50 per cent up on current sales.
The SsangYong Tivoli XLV goes on sale at SsangYong’s UK dealers this summer, and although prices have not been revealed we can’t see the starting point being much more than £15,000.
