The SEAT Mii Electric, SEAT’s take on the electric VW e-Up! and Skoda Citigo e iV, goes on sale in the UK with prices starting from £19,300.
VW may now be trying to get us to buy the electric ID 3 as it reinvents itself as a maker of EVs for the masses, but for some time it tried to foist the woeful electric e-Up! on buyers with its ridiculous price and tiny range.
But rather than abandoning the e-Up! as the forces of ID take a hold, VW has decided to actually make it reasonably appealing with bigger battery, improved range and lower prices, and to deliver a pair of non-VW options in the guise of the Skoda Citigo e iV and SEAT Mii Electric.
In fact, VW announced the arrival of the Skoda first and then the SEAT before we got the new e-Up!, and now the SEAT Mii Electric is on sale in the UK at a not too unreasonable £19,300 (after PiCG).
That sub-£20k price includes a decent specification with 16″ alloys, sports seats, metallic paint, Lane Assist, parking sensors and DC charging, a range of 161 miles from the 36.8kWh battery and oomph of 82bhp and 156lb/ft of torque.
Richard Harrison, SEAT’s UK MD, said:
The arrival of Mii electric marks the start of a comprehensive programme to electrify the SEAT range, which will see further electrified models arriving in 2020.
To make the electric Mii more tempting, SEAT are offering a free wallbox charger for the first 300 customers, and a finance deal of £4,399 down and £199 a month.
