The Tesla Model X SUV has a recall to fix a software problem in RHD models, including the UK, but owners won’t have to do anything to get the fix.
The world has been full of millions of recalls for faulty Takata airbags – millions around the globe – and Tesla hasn’t been immune to this.So when we saw Tesla had sent out a letter to owners of the Model X SUV in the UK, and other RHD markets, we assumed it was just more of the same.
In fact, the recall Tesla has issued for faulty airbags in RHD models is for faulty software, although no details have been revealed.
Tesla is warning Model X owners in the UK not to use the front passenger seat until the airbag issue has been fixed, but fortunately for Tesla owners that won’t mean booking an appointment and traipsing to one of the handful of tesla Stores in the UK.
Instead, because this is a software problem, Tesla is able to send the software update over ‘air’, and the plan is that all RHD cars will be have the update available this weekend.
As well as the UK, other RHD markets affected by this update include Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan.
