Toyota C-HR R-Tuned is a 600bhp Supercar-Bashing Crossover
The Toyota C-HR R-Tuned has been revealed at SEMA boasting 600bhp – still with front-wheel drive – and a claim its the fastest Crossover in the world.
The Toyota C-HR is a properly good Crossover;, funky to look at, good to drive and a great advert for Toyota’s future direction. But when the C-HR arrived it didn’t seem a likely candidate to become a supercar-bashing performance star, but that’s exactly what it’s turned in to with the Toyota C-HR R-Tuned.
Built for an outing at SEMA this week, the C-HR R-Tuned is powered by a 2.4 litre Toyota 2AZ-FE engine with Dezod forged internals, clever valvetrain and a DG-Spec Garrett turbo which all add up to a C-HR with a whopping 600bhp.
Despite all that power, the R-Tuned C-HR still has front-wheel drive, but it does get an OS Giken limited-slip diff to help it put the power down, Brembo Racing Brakes to help it stop, MCS dampers, 275/35R18 Toyo Proxes RR tyres, and a body kit including a huge back wing with gurney flap.
Toyota say the R-Tuned C-HR isn’t just a show stopper, but that it’s been out at Willow Springs Track to strut its stuff, setting a lap which beat cars like the McLaren 650 S Spyder, Porsche 911 GT3 and GT-R Nismo. So it’s definitely a bit lively.
The Toyota C-HR R-Tuned will be on show this week at SEMA alongside 18 other Toyota SEMA specials.
But don’t expect it to turn up in a Toyota showroom near you – it’s strictly a one-off – although there’s a fighting chance a production take on the C-HR Hy-Power Concept could be in the pipeline.
