Toyota Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports UK Prices and Specs announced

The new Toyota Corolla Hatchback and Corolla Touring Sports (Estate) will cost from £21,300 in the UK, with four trim levels and three engine options.

The Toyota Auris is dead and the Toyota Corolla has returned, and now Toyota has announced prices and specs for the new Corolla in the UK, with a choice of two hybrid powertrains, a single petrol engine and four trim grades – Icon, Icon Tech, Design and Excel.

Initially, it’s the new Corolla Hatchback and Corolla Touring Sports (Estate) up for offer, but they will be joined next year by the new Corolla saloon. And don’t bet against a high-riding Corolla ‘Cross’ at some point.

Engine options in the UK notably eschew diesel, with just a single 1.2 litre turbo petrol with 114bhp on offer, but you do get the choice – trim level dependant – of two hybrid powertrains.

There’s the familiar 1.8 litre unit delivering 120bhp, but there’s also a new 2.0 litre hybrid option which delivers a much more interesting 178bhp, both capable of short runs on electric only and fitted with a CVT ‘box.

Both Hatch and Estate get the same trim options – Icon, Icon Tech, Design and Excel – with Icon and Icon Tech available only with the 1.8 litre hybrid and 1.2 petrol, but Design versions have a choice of all three powertrains and Excel just hybrid.

The Corolla Icon comes with 16″ alloys. LED headlights, heated fronts eats, 8.0″ Touch 2, Reversing camera, Air Con and DAB, with Icon Tech trim adding Sat Nav, 7″ information display, parking sensors and Intelligent Park Assist.

Corolla Design adds in 17″ alloys, auto wipers, power mirrors, privacy glass, LED fogs and optional panoramic roof, and Excel throws more in with 18″ alloys, Bi-LED headlights, Smart entry, Sports seats, part leather and the option of JBL Sound and bi-tone paint.

Prices for the new Toyota Corolla starts at £21,300 for the Corolla 1.2T manual hatch, rising to £30,340 for the Corolla Excel Touring Sports 2.0 Hybrid CVT.
