Toyota has revealed that 180,865 UK Toyotas are being recalled for the sticky throttle pedal problem. No RAV4s or manual Aygos are involved.
Yes, this seems like update #83 on the Toyota Recall mess. But we’re getting lots of traffic on the stories; it’s obviously of great concern to our readers and, boring though it may be for non-Toyota owners to keep getting updates, it’s right that we do them.
Toyota has now confirmed that there are 180,865 Toyotas in the UK that are affected by the recall announced for the sticky pedal problem. Which is a whole lot more to deal with than the 6,667 Peugeot 107 and just 36 Citroen C1s involved.
Toyota has contacted the DVLA to make sure it gets notices out to all registered owners. As we reported this morning, Toyota dealers in the UK and Europe will get the sticking accelerator fix next week and will be working to make the process as quick as possible. Toyota say it should only take 30 minutes.
Contrary to earlier reports from Toyota, there are no UK RAV4s involved in the recall and no Aygos with a manual ‘box are affected. It would seem that is due to the faulty part not being fitted to cars without ESP. As always, if you have concerns we haven’t answered try calling Toyota GB Customer Relations on 0800 1388 744.
It’s a mess, but at least it’s now being addressed.
