Honda is keen to ensure that UK Prices for the new Honda Insight are keen, but most importantly that they undercut the Toyota Prius. So after the announcement of the Honda Insight details last month, Honda has revealed full pricing for its UK Specification cars.
Starting at just £15,490 for the entry level model (Honda Insight SE), this undercuts the current cheapest Hybrid by £2,380. Honda has helpfully provided us with price comparisons with comparable vehicles, which are at the bottom of the page.
This is all fine and dandy, and you have to praise Honda for their ambition to remove the perception that Hybrid cars are expensive (they are!), and to bring the Insight in at a price point that appeals to a broader range of customers. But there is a potential fly in the ointment – Toyota.
Toyota has not confirmed the rumour that they intend to continue with the current generation of Toyota Prius production when the next generation Toyota Prius launches soon. But if the rumours are right (and we’re sure they are) then we will see the current Prius remaining in production as an entry-level car, at a price point below the new Honda Insight.
