Veyron Sang Bleu the last limited edition

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu will be the last limited edition Veyron

We’ve taken the ‘michael’ out of the number of Bugatti Veyron limited editions there are. Which is hardly surprising considering the number of cars Bugatti has built, and how many limited editions there are.

To date, Bugatti has built around 250 Veyrons. And in that 250 have been seemingly endless special editions, including the Sang Noir, the Pur Sang, the Hermes, the Pegaso, the Centenaire Bleu and the four L’Edition Centennaire cars that recently launched at Villa d’Este. If you then throw in to the mix the Bugatti specials that have been made for customers – which include some all-carbon versions – you’re probably getting up to a minimum of ten limited edition Veyrons. About one car in 25. No wonder the special editions seem so ubiquitous.

But it would appear that Bugatti has finally decided that they’ve overdone the game, and has revealed that the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu will be the last of the limited edition Veyrons. But why – if the limited edition path has been successful for them – are Bugatti not playing the game with the Grand SPort, or at least not beyond the Sang Bleu that was shown at Pebble Beach?

The guess is that the four door Bugatti Royale / Bugatti Bordeaux is going to be the focus of their marketing from now on. It’s still debatable when- or if – it’s going to happen, but the fact that Bugatti are pulling back marketing initiatives for the Veyron on the back burner does add a fair bit of credibility to the Bordeaux / Royale story.
