Is this the VW T-Cross?
A new small SUV / Crossover concept is heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and is thought to be the VW T-Cross, based on the next gen Polo.
Alongside the 2016 facelift for the VW up!, Volkswagen will have a new concept of a baby SUV / Crossover to show at the Geneva Motor Show next month, thought to be called the VW T-Cross and heading for production. The T-Cross, if that is the name of the new SUV, is part of a drive by Volkswagen to expand its SUV offerings, and is expected to be based on the next-gen Polo platform and be an entry-level point for the VW SUV range.
It’s expected to join a production version of VW’s T-Roc Concept – which was Golf-sized – and provide VW with a proper baby SUV, rather than the jacked-up Cross Polo, as one of two new SUVs sitting below the Tiguan.
VW don’t have much to say about the T-Cross ahead of its reveal, but they do say the interior will have a lot in common with the recent BUDD-e Camper Van Concept, which means a very simple space devoid of buttons.
The T-Cross is likely to come with a four-wheel drive option, choice of manual or dual-clutch gearboxes, and engines choices that include petrol, diesel, hybrid and, maybe, an EV version.
The VW T-Cross Concept will debut next week in Geneva.
