Volvo XC40 grabs yet another Car of the Year gong
The Volvo XC40 has grabbed yet another Car of the Year Award, winning the New Car of the Year Award at the 2019 Motor Trader Awards.
You’d have to have been living in a cave in Peru for the last eighteen months if you haven’t worked out that the Volvo XC40 – Volvo’s entry-level SUV – is a bit of a good car.Even in (almost) entry level XC40 T3 Momentum Pro spec it’s about as good as it gets in the premium compact market, with its individuality and properly good balance of abilities perfectly matched to market wants.
That combination has lead to a raft of Car of the Year Awards for the XC40 in the last year of so, winning the WhatCar? COTY award early in 2018, followed by European COTY, China Design COTY, Japan COTY and, most recently, Honest John’s COTY.
Now, eighteen months after that first COTY award, the XC40 grabs another headline gong, being named New Car of the Year in the 2019 Motor Trader awards.
Kristian Elvefors, Volvo’s UK MD, said:
This latest award is a fantastic result, especially because it names the XC40 as the all-round best new car on sale. The XC40 has enjoyed an exceptional reception from the media and public alike, and we will continue to develop and improve its qualities to ensure it remains the car that sets the standard in its class.
Fortunately for Volvo, they’ve managed to deliver a car which is the pick of its sector, and done so without stealing too many sales from its best-selling XC60.
