Volvo XC40 – the PERFECT car for Lara Croft (+ video)

The new Volvo XC40 Compact SUV is front and centre in the new Lara Croft Tomb Raider film, as Volvo tie in its US launch with the launch of the new Tomb Raider.

Lara Croft may be as English as it gets, but the success of the franchise is down to Hollywood, and there’s a new Hollywood take on Lara Croft with the talented Alicia Vikander taking over the role made famous by Angelina Jolie about to hit cinema screens around the world.

So, thought Volvo when it was planning its PR campaign for the new XC40, what better way to get it front and centre in the US than to put Lara Croft behind the wheel?

The result of that is that Lara Croft now drives a white Volvo XC40 R Design T5, and it will be blatted across screens from 16 March when the new Tomb Raider movie premiers. Which won’t do the profile of the XC40 any harm at all.

Volvo has even gone to the trouble of creating a Lara Croft XC40 ‘Spec’ for fans to tap in to, but because this is a Hollywood film – and the XC40’s presence is aimed at US sales – the spec is actually a US spec, even though the car in the film is UK spec.

But if you want to copy it you can, as it’s a Crystal White XC40 R-Design AWD with T5 petrol engine, 20″ 5-Spoke Matt Black Diamond Cut Alloys and Black Nubuck Leather.

The new Lara Croft Tomb Raider film premieres on 16 March, just ahead of the new Volvo XC40 launch in the US.
