It’s being reported that Subaru will take a production-ready 2012 Subaru Impreza to the New York Motor Show in April and on sale in August.
One of the surprises of the Los Angeles Motor Show in November was the Subaru Impreza Concept – a car that really wasn’t on our radar.
Subaru insisted that this Impreza was a concept, nothing more, and that we shouldn’t read too much in to the show concept – certainly not that this could be the 2012 Subaru Impreza.
A show concept, incidentally, that featured a full set of running gear including a a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated Boxer engine with a Lineartronic CVT ‘box.
So we took the ‘Only a Concept’ line with a bag of Maldon’s finest and expected that later this year (2011) – perhaps at Frankfurt – we’d get something very similar with the news it was the new Impreza set for lauch in 2012 as a 2013 model. But oh, no. It’s pretty much already here.
It’s reported that Subaru will unveil the 2012 Subaru Impreza as a production-ready model at the New York Motor Show in April. Not only that, but it will go on sale just a few months later.
Which means it’s a fair bet that – with a few ‘concepty’ bits ironed out – it will be the very impressive Impreza Concept from LA, which looks much like a modern Volvo with a dose of Subaru DNA factored in.
Which is actually a big compliment.
