The Citroen DS4 doesn’t launch until later in 2011, but has already been voted ‘Most Beautiful Car of the Year’.
Despite our original scepticism about the resurrection of the iconic (a word too easily bandied around – but appropriate here) ‘Goddess’ moniker for a new range of Citroens, the Citroen DS3 bowled us over both as a style statement and a cracking drive.
The next instalment in the DS series – the Citroen DS4 – was officially revealed last year, although we’ll have to wait until later this year before the DS4 actually hits the road.
That small fact hasn’t stopped the DS4 from acquiring the title of ‘Most Beautiful Car of the Year’, according to the votes of more than 60,000 web users in 62 countries, with the award divvied up to Citroen at the International Automobile Festival on 27th January. Which, you may not be shocked to learn, is a French show.
Remarkably, a jury of personalities from the worlds of design, sport, culture and the media, specially constituted for the Festival, awarded DS4 the “Most Beautiful Interior” prize. That they were all French was entirely coincidental.
Digging at the French (a compulsory trait of the English – joyfully reciprocated by the French) apart, we hope the DS4 – a high-riding crossover – lives up to the promise set by the DS3.
Until we get our hands on one we don’t know. But we’re hoping.
