2016 Alpina B5 Biturbo Saloon and Touring get 591bhp – but perhaps not for the UK
The 2016 Alpina B5 Biturbo – Alpina’s take on the BMW 5-Series – has been revealed and gets 591bhp and 591lb ft of torque. Does 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds.
There’s something really appealing about Alpina’s take on BMW – even the diesel offerings – but one of the best is the B5 Biturbo, Alpina’s re-worked BMW 5 Series, and not just because it’s quick, but also because it’s so well executed. Now we get the 2016 Alpina Biturbo, and this inherits its power – 591bhp and 591lb ft of torque – from the Edition 50 models, enough to get to 62mph in just 4.2 seconds and all the way up to 2045mph.
The more powerful take on the twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8 is mated to Alpina’s tweaked Zf auto ‘box with power driven through a limited-slip diff to the rear wheels, with electronically adjustable dampers fitted as standard too. Optional. but desirable, options include a titanium exhaust by Akrapovic and uprated brakes.
Inside there’s Merino leather for the upholstery and piano black trim.
Alpina has revealed the B5 Biturbo will cost from €108,600 for the saloon and €111,900 for the Touring in europe, but we’re not entirely sure the 2016 B5 Biturbo will be on offer in the UK as Sytner – the UK’s Alpina importer – hasn’t revealed any UK pricing after they appear to have stopped offering the B5 in the UK (although you can still get the B3, B4, B6 and B7).
