The Range Rover Evoque Convertible has been revealed in a video shot under London in the new Crossrail tunnels ahead of a production debut in 2016.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible revealed – deep under London
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible was revealed by Land Rover as a concept at Geneva in 2012, and despite it looking like a non-starter for production just a year later, Land Rover subsequently let it be known it would make production.
Land Rover managed to persuade the tunnel diggers to step aside for a while and took the new Evoque Convertible – top down – for a blat through some of the 26 miles of tunnels Crossrail has dug, even demonstrating the Convertible Evoque can negotiate obstacles in the process.
Murray Dietsch, LR’s Director of Programmes, said:
The tunnels are still under construction, so we had a unique opportunity to explore the vehicle’s all-terrain ability in unchartered territory.
Frankly, we can’t see Evoque Convertible owners doing anything more adventurous than the school run, but Land Rover’s USP is ‘Go Anywhere’, so they did.
The new Range Rover Evoque Convertible will doubtless need an RSJ or two to keep it together without the roof, but hopefully the Evoques’ new Ingenium engines will redress the economy and performance penalty of that somewhat.
