DS 7 SUV – Citroen’s DS take on the Peugeot 3008 – uncovered ahead of Geneva
The DS 7 – a new SUV from Citroen’s posh brand based on the Peugeot 3008 – has been uncovered ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
The idea of a posh DS brand from Citroen still hasn’t really gelled properly, with the best DS being the now rather old DS 3. But that could change with the arrival of this, a new DS 7.Thought to be heading for the Geneva Motor Show next month, the DS7 has been snapped by a reader of Citronfeng completely undisguised.
Based on the new Peugeot 3008, the DS 7 SUV – which could very well be the DS 7 Cross when it arrives – is not quite the production version of the Wild Rubis Concept we expected, but a rather more conservatively-styled urban SUV.
The DS 7 – the first DS SUV for Europe, although beaten as the first DS SUV by the China-only DS 6 – the DS 7 is expected to get an upmarket interior as well as some interesting powertrain options and a new innovative suspension too.
That suspension will be the new Citroen advanced hydraulic setup which could deliver a DS 7 with both impressive dynamics and a comfortable ride. Well, that’s the theory.
On the powertrain front, we’d expect the usual petrol and diesel suspects as well as a plug-in hybrid, but also the first appearance of PSA’s new 1.5 litre diesel DV-R engine (which is also heading for a Ford near you soon) with up to 130bhp and improved emissions over the outgoing 1.6 litre diesel.
With the Geneva Motor Show only a month away, we should start getting more on the DS7 very soon.
