McLaren P1 GT Longtail DEBUT at Goodwood Festival of Speed
A McLaren P1 GT LOngtail by Lanzante is heading fro a debut at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, evoking the original McLaren F1 GT.
The McLaren F1 GT is actually the rarest of the F1 family, built to homologate the race F1 GTR Longtail – which needed a ‘production’ road car to exist – McLaren ended up building three for existing F1 owners.Twenty years later we have new Longtail McLarens with the 675 Longtail and the recently revealed 600LT, and now we’re getting the ultimate modern Longtail – the McLaren P1 GT Longtail.
But it’s not McLaren delivering a new P1 GT, it’s Lanzante – who have been officially fixing, fettling and racing McLarens since the F1 – who were responsible for the road-going McLaren P1 GTR – the McLaren P1 LM .
The profile teaser for the P1 GT (above) from Lanzante shows a P1 looking remarkably like the F1 GT in profile, and confirmation it will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week, two years on from the debut of the P1 LM.
There’s no information yet on what’s under the GT’s body, but the P1 LM came with the GTR’s full 986bhp, so we’re guessing that’s likely to be the minimum on offer.
This P1 LM appears to be a one-off conversion for an existing P1 owner, but it seems Lanzante are open to doing two more to match the original run of just three F1 GTs. Assuming you have deep enough pockets and a donor P1, that is.
