The Bentley Bentayga has taken the record for a production SUV at Pikes Peak, and to celebrate Bentley are launching a limited edition Bentayga Pikes Peak.

At the weekend, the Bentley Bentayga took to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb to try and set a record for the fastest production SUV, and it succeeded.

Bentley’s Pikes Peak Bentayga was a bog standard car with just the addition of regulation safety kit, but its 600bhp, adaptive suspension, electric 48V anti-roll control and carbon ceramic brakes conspired to crush the previous record by nearly two minutes, setting a time of 10:49.9 and averaging 66.5mph through Pikes Peak’s 12.42 mile, 156 turn climb.

Understandably, Bentley want to shout about the Bentayga’s achievement, so they’ve announced a new limited edition Bentayga – the Bentley Bentayga Pikes Peak.

Limited to just 10 cars, the Bentayga Pikes Peak is created by Mulliner and comes with either a Black or Radium paint job, 22″ alloys in Beluga with Radium accents, all the exterior chrome replaced with gloss black, carbon fibre splitter, diffuser and spoiler and a Pikes Peak badge on the front wings.

Inside there’s black leather with Key Lime accents and Alcantara inserts, a Pikes Peak logo and numbered Pikes Peak treadplates.

Under the skin it’s the Bentayga’s 6.0 litre W12 with 600bhp, ZF eight-speed ‘box, four-wheel drive, Adaptive Air Suspension, 48V electric active anti-roll control, Bentley Sports exhaust and Touring Specification Pack.

Bentley say the Bentayga Pikes Peak will go on sale in August. Expect it to cost a chunk more than the regular W12 Bentayga’s almost £170k.
