BMW 8 Series Convertible LEAKS
The new BMW 8 Series Convertible is due to be revealed tomorrow (2 November), but it’s leaked out a daye early thanks to a Belgian website.
We’ve already had the debut of the new BMW 8 Series as a range-topping BMW Coupe – taking the mantle from the 6 Series – and we’re due to see the new 8 Series Convertible launch tomorrow (2 November 2018).But, as with all the best laid plans, that’s gone a bit awry as a Belgian website delivers what appear to be the first official images of BMW’s new range-topping convertible (above and on the link).
The photos are of the M85oi Convertible, so we see the same look as the 8 Series Coupe – from the greenhouse down – together with big wheels and sport body kit, with a fabric folding roof opening up the cabin to reveal an interior which looks exactly the same as the Coupe’s. No surprise there.
The M850i Convertible will come with the same 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 as the Coupe, which means 530bhp and a 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds (well, maybe a tenth or so slower for the Convertible thanks to extra weight), but there will also be a 3.0 litre diesel option too for frugally minded buyers.
Just like the 8 Series Coupe, we’re expecting to see a full-fat ‘M’ version next year, which should push power up over 600bhp, as well as more prosaic petrol and diesel versions too and the arrival of the 8 Series Gran Coupe.
