BMW has been busy running the 8 Series Convertible between Las Vegas and Death Valley to see how the new convertible will cope with temperatures of more than 50c, sitting in stop start traffic on the Las Vegas Strip, blatting round gravel tracks near Mount Whitney and driving between the Pacific coast and the Rocky Mountains.
BMW has also been leaving the Convertible, top down, in Death Valley for hours to see what the extreme heat does to the interior and electronics, and been to the Hoover Dam to see how it copes with the strong electromagnetic waves the hydropower turbines generates.
Not that any prospective 8 Series Convertible buyers will care. Just as long as it looks the part and drives as a BMW 8 Series should.
