Cadillac has released pictures of the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe ahead of the launch at the Detroit Motor Show next week.
We all know about Cadillac’s fire breathing saloon car – the Cadillac CTS-V. We know that GM’s Bob Lutz tried to take on the motoring world to prove the CTS-V was a better car than the German (and British opposition). He succeeding in a moral victory for the hugely powerful CTS-V and has been promising a CTS-V Coupe ever since.
We got confirmation that the CTS-V Coupe was going to be built just a couple of days before GM revealed the CTS Coupe. And now we have the reveal of the first pictures from Cadillac of the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe ahead of the official reveal at the Detroit Motor Show this month.
No surprises in store – except perhaps just how good it looks – with its 6.2 litre, 556 bhp V8 almost defying resistance by hurtling the not inconsiderably-sized CTS-V Coupe to 60mph in 3.9 seconds.
The Coupe gets Brembo brakes as standard and Magnetic Ride Control (Tour and Sport options). Choice is either a six-speed manual or a 6-speed auto with paddle-shift driving the rear wheels through a limited slip diff.
The Coupe lops two inches off the length of the Saloon (although the wheelbase is the same), it sits 2″ lower and the rear track is a1″ wideer, which will probably make the CTS-V Coupe an even more astonishing handler than the Saloon. Sorry, Sedan.
GM hasn’t released any pictures of the interior yet, although we’ll get a lot more detail between now and the launch next week in Detroit.
But it is a fine looking car.
