Fiat has followed up their viral ‘Motherhood’ video for the new 500L with a new version to balance the gender bias – ‘Fatherhood’.

That was because Fiat managed to tap in to the woes of parenthood (or, more precisely, motherhood) with a bit of a hip-hop ditty by a vexed young mother, bemoaning the changes motherhood has wrought on her life.
It was a clever bit of marketing to target grown-up lovers of Fiat’s funky little 500, with the family sized version of their favourite car offering solace for a very different lifestyle.
Now, in an effort either to cash-in on the success of ‘Motherhood’ or to balance the equation, the Fiat 500L gets an outing with a new ditty for new fathers with a similar despair displayed.
Mum may have moaned that ‘I swapped my sexy handbag for a snot-stained sack’, but dad is more concerned that ‘You peed inside my bedding but know I’ll get my own back when I’m dancing at your wedding!’ Dad also gets twins and is waved off in to the night – drinking from a baby’s bottle – to drive the little ones to sleep (we’ve all been there).
And instead of a modern hip-hop feel, Fiat has gone for ‘New Romantic’ and even managed to throw in a Kate Bush lookalike for a bit of ‘Wuthering’.
Fiat say the Motherhood video saw cries for a follow-up from the father’s perspective, so they’ve obliged. And it’s a decent effort, although unlikely to have the impact Motherhood had.

Cynical failed effort to cash in on the very good motherhood video.

Not as good as the moiherhood one (which really made me laugh) and how old is this dad suppoesed to be? If he was a teen in the 1980s new romantic times he must be in his 50s now!

Been there and done that too (although not with twins).

Where do I find a man who’ll take crying twins off in to the night on his own?!
