The 2016 Renault Megane has been revealed ahead of a Frankfurt debut, with styling influenced by the new Espace and Talisman. On sale UK early 2016.
The UK may not be getting the new Renault Espace or Talisman (frankly, there aren’t enough UK car buyers tempted by those Renault offerings any more), but if you’re looking for a new Renault that has the same familial styling then you will be able to buy this – the 2016 Renault Megane.Just like the Talisman, the new Megane gets C-Shaped headlights and big Renault Diamond at the front and a full-width tail light cluster to emphasise width. Not only do the tail lights emphasise width, but there’s and increase in track both front and back and the Megane sits 25mm lower too, all conspiring to make the new Megane look more purposeful.
On offer from launch, there will also be a Megane GT, which shouts its more sporty pretensions with 18″ alloys, bigger air intakes at the front, a mesh grill, chrome tail pipes, an F1-inspired spoiler and ‘Renaultsport’ badges. You’ll also be able to have your Megane GT in Iron Blue paintwork with Dark metal accents.
Renault designer Franck Le Gall said:
On the highly competitive market of compact saloons, it was vital that New Mégane should stand out right from the first glance.
The precise, taut lines, which draw the whole design towards the front, are part of the side surfaces.
And actually, that’s about all Renault has said, wanting to keep more information back for a full reveal just before Frankfurt.
However, it seems certain the engine line-up will range from an 89bhp 0.9 litre to a 200bhp 1.6 in the GT and a 275bhp 1.8 in the RS, with a range of diesels from 95-160bhp.
