Jaguar F-Pace tested to extreme – hot, cold and slippery gravel

The new Jaguar F-Pace Crossover – heading for a debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show – is being tested to extremes of hot and cold as Jaguar ready it for the road.

We’ve seen plenty of the new Jaguar F-Pace Crossover (don’t call it an SUV – that’s Land Rover’s job) with its camouflaged appearance as a support car for Team Sky’s Tour de France and, of course, we have a pretty good idea of how it will look thanks to the Jaguar C-X17 Concept.

But as the arrival of the F-Pace in production guise draws closer – it will get its public unveiling at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show – Jaguar are busy testing their first Crossover to extremes around the world with hot and cold testing as well as testing the F-Pace in inhospitable terrain – a first for Jaguar.

Jaguar have the F-Pace out at Arjeplog in Sweden – where temperatures drop to -40 deg C – with 60km of purpose-built tracks including climbs, split-traction straights and off-road areas to get the balance of the F-Pace’s four-wheel-drive just right, especially the All-Surface Progress Control.

Over in Dubai, the F-Pace is getting a similarly difficult climate to deal with – but at the opposite extreme with temperatures hitting +50 deg C – to make sure everything still works properly even when you can fry an egg on the F-Pace’s bonnet.

As if that wasn’t enough to test the F-Pace, Jaguar have also been out playing on gravelled mountain passes to make sure their Crossover (it’s not an SUV. Really) can do the rufty-tufty stuff too.

The new Jaguar F-Pace will debut in Frankfurt and be on sale in the UK in early 2016.
