Jaguar XE (pictured) now with new 300 PS Ingenium petrol engine
The Jaguar XE, XF and F-Pace can now be ordered with Jaguar’s new 2.0 litre 300 PS Ingenium petrol engine as the petrol Ingenium roll-out continues.
Last month, Land Rover announced a new Ingenium petrol engine option for the Discovery and Evoque, delivering 290 PS and effectively retiring Land Rover’s old petrol engines. And now it’s Jaguar’s turn.
Jaguar has announced that the XE, XF and F-Pace can now all be ordered with the Jaguar take on the new, most powerful, 2.0 litre turbo petrol Ingenium engine, and in a Jaguar it delivers 300 PS (that’s 296bhp in old money) and 295lb/ft of torque.
That’s enough in the F-Pace to get to 62mph in a decent 6.0 seconds and return official economy of 37mpg (although around 30mpg in the real world is about right).
In the Jaguar XF the performance is a bit more impressive, with 0-62mph cut to 5.6 seconds and official economy rated at 40mpg, again with real world economy nearer to 30mpg.
The best performing Jaguar with the new 300PS petrol engine is the Jaguar XE, which can get to 62mph in 5.5 seconds and return official numbers of 41.5mpg and 157g/km.
Nick Rogers, Jaguar’s Product Engineering Director, said:
Our new 300PS petrol engine provides the performance synonymous with Jaguar, while delivering enhanced fuel economy thanks to its state-of-the-art exhaust technology and pioneering valve train design.
This clean and more efficient engine perfectly complements the advanced lightweight aluminium body structure of our XE, XF and F-PACE models.
The new 300PS petrol engine joins updates earlier this year for Jaguar’s petrol range, with the 200PS version for the XE and XF and the 250PS version for the XE, XF and F-Pace.
And with car buyers deserting diesel engines, it’s a very good time to be delivering new, very good, petrol engine options.
