Lamborghini Urus SUV will look VERY familiar

The Lamborghini Urus was revealed as a concept three years ago, but it now has the green light for production and will keep its concept styling.
It’s been three years since the Lamborghini Urus Concept was revealed as a possible direction for Lamborghini’s third model line, and it’s taken all of those three years to get VW to sign-off on a production Urus. But now we know the Urus is going to be built, in the process creating 500 new jobs at Sant’Agata as tax breaks from the Italian government ensures the Urus is built in Italy, so the question is: Will the production Urus look different from the concept Urus?
It seems the answer to that is an emphatic no – despite the design being at least seven years old by the time the production Urus arrives – with Lamborghini telling Autoblog that the production Urus will be very close in design to the concept; there’s clearly no need or desire to give the concept a design overhaul for production as Bentley have had to do with the Bentayga.
As for what’s under the skin of the Urus (or whatever production name it gets), Lamborghini boss, Stephan Winkelmann, said it could have Lamborghini’s first production turbo engine and, if there’s the opportunity to deliver an optional power plant, that could be a plug-in hybrid.
It’s going to be at least a couple of years before the Urus arrives, but we now have a very clear idea of how it will look, and what will power it. Let’s hope Lamborghini manage to make it a better road-focused SUV than the Porsche Cayenne – even if that is a very tall order.
