Lexus LC Convertible REVEALED
The Lexus LC Convertible – the soft top take on the glorious LC Coupe – arrives in prototype guise at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – suitably camouflaged.
It was January when Lexus revealed the LC Convertible Concept, and it received almost as much praise as its coupe sibling – the LC Coupe – did when it first arrived. But the difference between the original LC Coupe Concept and the LC Convertible Concept is that the original LC Concept was never supposed to turn in to a production car – it was just a ‘look at what we can do’ concept – but the LC Convertible is firmly pointing at a production version heading in to showrooms before long.
So when we got wind last month that the LC Convertible would debut at Goodwood it all added up. But not quite.
Instead of delivering a production version of the LC Convertible, Lexus has taken to Goodwood a Lexus LC Convertible Prototype, although, apart from the camouflage, it looks about ready to go in to production.
Koji Sato, Lexus VP, said:
The Goodwood Festival of Speed celebrates the history and culture of the automobile and serves as a gathering place for some of history’s most notable cars and drivers. Lexus is honoured to join this festival, and I could not be happier to unveil this prototype model of the LC convertible at the same venue where the LC coupe made its debut in 2016.
If you’re at Goodwood this weekend (and if not, why not?) then you’ll get the chance to see the LC Convertible heading up the Hill in the hands of professional race driver Nick Cassidy.
At some point soon, Lexus will turn the LC Convertible in to a production model.
