The Lexus UX – the new compact Lexus SUV – officially goes on sale in the UK today (22 March 2019) in three trim levels.
It’s more than a year since the new Lexus UX – a new compact SUV from Toyota’s posh arm – was revealed ahead of its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show – and five months since UK prices for the UX were announced – but only now is the UX officially going on sale in the UK.
Despite that, Lexus already has a pleasing number of orders for the UX thanks to a shipment of UXs flown in to the UK in February, allowing Lexus dealers around the UK to get potential buyers in to the UX ahead of its official on sale.
Lexus are keen to let you know that on those test drives – both front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions – the cars spent 52 per cent of the driving time and 36 per cent of the test route in pure EV mode, thereby extolling the virtues of the new 2.0 litre ‘self-charging’ hybrid powertrain, good for 46-53mpg depending on model.
Ewan Shepherd, Director of Lexus in the UK, said:
The UX is set to become one of our most important models and I am confident that, from the outset, we are offering customers a compelling new vehicle that is innovative, technologically advanced and beautifully designed.
Feedback from our award winning retailer network suggests that this is an opinion backed by customers who have been very keen to respond to our early test drive programme.
The UX is available in three trim grades – UX, F Sport and Takumi – with front-wheel and all-wheel drive options for the 2.0 litre hybrid powertrain and prices from £29,900.
