Maserati are on a mission to revive sales for the marque after years of being just an afterthought for car buyers fancying something interesting and Italian. And it seems to be working.
In April alone, Maserati managed to sell 130 cars in the UK, an increase of 665 per cent over April 2013 with sales across Europe as a whole up by 333 per cent over 2013. That adds up to sales of 1,837 in the first four months of 2014 in Europe alone.
Impressive though the improvement in Maserati sales is, it’s a long way short of Maserati’s sales target of 75,000 a year (worldwide) by 2018.
But that increase will start to come with the arrival of the Maserati Levante SUV (or whatever it end up being called) in 2015 and the new Maserati Alfieri, first as a coupe in 2016 and then as a convertible in 2017, both of which are entering growing markets.
There may be a way to go before Maserati becomes a force, but they are going in the right direction.
