Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition
The Mazda MX-5 is 30 years old this year, and Mazda are celebrating with an MX-5 30th Anniversary model with orange everything.
Like it or nor, and we do, the Mazda MX-5 has become an iconic car, taking all the best bits of 1960s British Sports cars and delivering a fun and affordable little sports car fit for modern roads.Amazingly, it’s 30 years since the MX-5 was launched in 1989, and Mazda weren’t going to let that pass without an anniversary model. Bang on cue we get the Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition.
Distinguishing the 30th Anniversary MX-5 from any other MX-5 is the Racing Orange paint job and a set of Rays alloys, orange brake calipers, Brembo brakes and some 30th Anniversary badging.
Inside there’s more orange on offer, with orange accents on the seats, doors, dash, steering wheel and gear lever, Recaro seats, bits of Alcantara and the addition of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Mazda say they are going to produce 3,000 30th anniversary models, but as the UK is one of the world’s biggest MX-5 markets 20 per cent of those will be heading to Blighty – 400 MX-5 Convertibles and 200 RF models.
The 30th anniversary MX-5 comes with Mazda’s 181bhp 2.0 litre Skyactiv-G engine with six-speed manual gearbox, Bilstein dampers, strut brace and limited slip diff.
The Mazda MX-4 30th Anniversary RF costs from £29,895 and the Convertible version £28,095. On sale now, first customer deliveries are expected in the summer.
