The Mazda3 Sport Black Special Edition has been launched in the UK with a black styling kit, a choice of red or white paint and costing from £20,995.
The plate change is done and dusted for another six months, so we can expect car makers to start churning out more ‘special editions’ to get buyers in to showrooms, rather like this from Mazda – the Mazda3 Sport Black Special Edition. The Mazda3 Sport Black comes with Mazda’s 2.0 litre SKYACTIV-G petrol delivering 118bhp and good for 62mph in 8.9 seconds and a raft of sporty upgrades that actually improve the already decent looks.
You can only have the Sport Black as a hatchback, and you’re limited to either Soul Red Metallic or Snowflake White Pearlescent paintwork, but you do get some nice styling add-ons, even if performance isn’t tweaked to match the looks.
To compliment and contrast with the two available colours, Mazda has fitted a ‘Brilliant Black Sports Styling Kit’ consisting of black skirts, rear spoiler and lower rear bumper treatment together with black door mirrors and dark Gunmetal alloys.
Inside gets an overhaul too, with black half leather/half suede seats and a standard spec that includes BOSE surround sound, reversing camera, keyless, cruise, climate and Mazda’s MZD-Connect infotainment with 7″ screen and Sat Nav.
The Mazda3 Sport Black is limited to just 800 units in the UK, and goes on sale at Mazda’s UK dealers on 1 April 2016.
